A 46-year-old Mutare man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Mutare Regional Court for the repeated sexual violation of his 18-year-old daughter.
The man, (name withheld to protect the victim’s identity) was found guilty on two counts of rape.
The court heard that the first offense occurred in October 2024 when the victim had entered her father’s bedroom to collect blankets when he blocked her exit and subsequently raped her.
The second incident took place in November 2024 while the young woman was bathing.
Her father entered the bathroom without permission and forcibly raped her despite her resistance.
The victim initially remained silent due to fear but eventually disclosed the abuse to a trusted friend in December 2024, leading to a police report.
The court handed down 15-year sentences for each count, to be served consecutively, resulting in the 30-year prison term.
