In a passionate bid to unite the country behind its national football team, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has launched a spirited new initiative titled “Go Warriors Fans.” The campaign, revealed this week in Harare, aims to rally Zimbabweans everywhere to support the Warriors as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi officially announced the campaign during a lively public viewing event for Zimbabwe’s COSAFA Cup clash against Mozambique. With flags waving and fans already in full voice, Magwizi used the electric atmosphere to urge the nation to get behind the team—not just emotionally, but physically.
“We need as many Zimbabweans as possible in Morocco to support the Warriors,” he said. “The 12th man plays a key role in our success. It is about unity and pride in our national identity. Rather than waiting until December, we are urging people to begin making arrangements now.”
The “Go Warriors Fans” campaign will provide a structured platform for fans to plan their travel and accommodation, allowing supporters from all walks of life to experience the tournament firsthand. According to Magwizi, this is more than just a football initiative—it’s a national movement.
Belief in the Warriors’ potential is central to the campaign. Magwizi expressed confidence that the team is poised for a breakthrough performance on the continental stage, and that the presence of a strong Zimbabwean fan base could make all the difference.
In a parallel effort to bring the tournament spirit to every corner of the country, ZIFA General Secretary Yvonne Mapika Manwa announced plans to set up dedicated fan parks in rural communities. These venues will allow fans who can’t travel to Morocco to experience the matches in real time, fostering a shared national celebration that reaches far beyond urban centres.
“Creating these rural fan bases is a top priority,” Manwa said. “We want everyone, regardless of location, to feel the pride and excitement of supporting the Warriors.”
As anticipation builds for AFCON 2025, the “Go Warriors Fans” campaign signals a new era of fan engagement and national unity. Whether in the stadiums of Morocco or gathered in rural fan parks across Zimbabwe, one thing is clear: the heartbeat of the Warriors will be powered by the people.
